Obit PicGlenn Edward “Buck” Banner, 81, of Sedalia, passed away peacefully at his home Monday, September 4, 2017. He was born on May 31, 1936 in Camdenton, MO the son of John Edward  and Mae Ellen (Newman) Banner, who preceded him in death.

On April 9, 1958 in Roach, MO he was united in marriage to Betty Rose Shackelford, who resides of the home. Together, they shared 59 years of marriage.

Buck was a member of Lamine Baptist Church. He was a life long truck driver and owner of Waller Trucking Co. with his dad and brothers. He drove for Cargill Feed Mill in Smithton. He was a retired Pettis County Deputy Sheriff and was a security guard for Guardsman Security. Buck had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was always sharing the word of God with anyone he could.

Buck enjoyed going to rodeos, calf roping, saddle bronc and loved anything western. He enjoyed hearing Chris Pyle announce rodeos, watching barrel racing, and hunting. Buck served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis and was stationed at Ft. Gordon, GA.

In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by six children, Vickie Fry of Tipton, John Banner (Cindy) of Lake Ozark, MO, Ben Banner (Meshel) of Green Ridge, Jackie Lehman (Brian) of Lincoln, DE, Jeff Banner (Sherry) of Sedalia, and Angie Dumsday (Robert) of Tipton; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Blake of Lake Havasu, AZ; and a brother, Onlee Banner (Wanda) of Harrisonville, MO.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Banner: a brother, Robert Banner; and a son-in-law, Tom Fry.

A celebration of Buck’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at First Christian Church, Sedalia with Pastor John Dumsday and Pastor Dennis North officiating.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors by VFW Post #2591 and Missouri Army National Guard.

Pallbearers will be Kerry Pyle, Mike Pyle, Chris Pyle, Kirby Pyle, Pat Pyle, and Mikey Pyle.

Honorary pallbearers will Al Kindle, Andy Kindle, Danny Pyle, Nick Banner, Derek Castle, Tyler Banner, Blake Banner, Robert Dumsday, III, Chris Lehman, and Trent Scotten.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the family in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
