27157766_10156449407719305_1667250133_nDenny Perkins, 55, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia. He was born in June 23, 1962 in Macon, MO, the son of Winfred Leroy and Cleota Mae (Creekmur) Perkins, who reside in Sedalia.

On August 3, 1985 in Quincy, IL, he was united in marriage to Jeri Neumann who resides of the home.

As a student, Denny excelled at both school and athletics, but found his true passion when he entered the radio business. He had a career in radio lasting longer than 30 years, over the course of which he made friends and fans, touched the lives of both listeners and artists, and never had a dull moment.

His broadcasting career allowed him to continue being a huge fan of athletics, most notably State Fair Community College basketball. He worked calling the games on air, making listeners feel like they were watching the games in person.

Denny also used his platform to do the most good he could, lending his voice to beginning bands, students promoting school activities, and most of all charities- especially those in Sedalia.

Denny is survived by both parents; his wife, Jeri (Neumann) Perkins; his two daughters, Sara and Abby Perkins; and his siblings, Lori (Perkins) Jackson, Marlo Perkins, and William Perkins.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2018 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Pastor Craig Bowen officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the chapel.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia.

Honorary bearers will be William Perkins, Larry Jackson, Chad Jackson, Derek Jackson, Chris Jackson, Zac Callahan, Mark Thompson, Joe Beykirch, Mark Stockstill, and Joe Neumann.

Although he certainly did a lot of good on air, Denny believed the majority of works should be done anonymously. He was passionate about helping one person at a time, often without them knowing it was him who did it. In this spirit, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to friends or neighbors in Sedalia who are in need.
