Agnes Walker

Agnes WalkerAgnes “Aggie” Walker of Sedalia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the age of 84. She was born on May 13, 1933 in Mora, MO, the daughter of John and Agnes Westermier. Aggie was united in marriage to Carl Raymond Walker on June 16, 1980. They were able to experience all the joys of life through travel, children, and grandchildren until his passing in 1987.

Aggie is survived by two daughters, Pam Hockaday (John) and Dana Watring (Mark); two step-children, Debbie Tray (Tom) and Kevin Walker; two sisters, Rose Fleming and Jane Woolery; one brother, James Westermier all of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Sonya Fogle, Angela Oswald, Heather Simmons and Felicity Watring; six great-grandchildren Grant, Gabe and Genna Fogle, Landon and Julia Oswald and Macsen Simmons.

As a social worker for the Pettis County Division of Family Services, Aggie was able to help improve the lives of many in her community. She was an active member of many organizations, including Sacred Heart Church, The Association of Retired MO State Employees, Daughters of Isabella, Sedalia Circle 310, American Legion Auxiliary #642, VFW Auxiliary #2591, AARP #660, National Eagles, Women of the Moose, A of F, C of R, Star, Helping Hand, Happy Helpers with Knights of Columbus, State Fair Sam’s RV Club and Guys & Gals of Epworth Methodist Church.  After retirement Aggie continued to serve her community as an avid volunteer.

In addition to Aggie’s parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Edna Reusch, Leo, Joseph, Anthony and Mathew Westermier.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sedalia. Serving as honorary bearers are her three sons-in-law; John Hockaday, Mark Watring and Tom Tray. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sedalia Senior Center in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
